Warehouse capacity increased by 100% within existing building
Working with a valued customer at their tea storage facility in the heart of Kenya, Stodec provided a solution using Dexion Speedlock pallet racking which doubled capacity and improved product and personnel safety.
The packing and storage of tea after picking results in heavy unit loads with 20 sacks each weighing 68kg being stacked onto a single pallet. SEC Exports (then Stodec Trading Ltd) designed and installed high strength, galvanised pallet racking to fit into their existing warehouses where only limited block stacking at two pallets high had previously been possible.
The warehouses now utilise the full height for storing four pallets high, thereby doubling storage capacity, significantly increasing safety for staff, as well as ensuring faster movement of goods.
Following the success of the initial installation, a completely new major warehouse complex has been constructed with Stodec supplying new Dexion Speedlock Pallet Racking which will store a further 16,684 pallet loads.
Racking and barrier rails for the three new warehouses have been shipped in 29 containers from the UK ready to install, and the combined buildings will create the largest tea storage facility in Kenya.

With an increase in its tea production, the client needed to secure additional storage capacity within the existing building and ensure a safe work environment for its staff.
