Innovative Solutions Through Warehouse Intelligence
At SEC Storage we continually strive to deliver innovative and bespoke solutions for our customers. To achieve this – and what sets us apart in the market – is that we have invested significantly in designing and implementing bespoke data analysis tools which clearly demonstrate how our proposed solution will deliver the optimum results.
We have adapted our supply capability to complement traditional storage equipment with modern, affordable, intelligent warehouse technologies such as collaborative robotics and shuttle systems. Additionally, we’ve invested in a suite of Artificial Intelligence tools that we use to run our operations and analyse our clients’ data to produce innovative, award-winning warehouse designs.
Data is the lifeblood of our business and over the past few years we have created a bespoke suite of industry-leading data capture and analytics tools. These provide us with the ability to analyse customer data such as volumetrics and throughputs which allows us to design strategic and innovative solutions to a level which is unique in our sector.
Our solutions are driven by innovation and go far beyond the conventional use of data; incorporated within our analytical tools are aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as virtual twinning, simulation techniques, and advanced statistical analysis.
Developing a digital twin through in-depth data analysis allows us to fully understand a customer’s operations and test our solution in various ways to demonstrate how we would optimise operations. This allows us to provide statistically-informed solutions for optimising material flows and monitoring processes.
AI and machine learning offer numerous benefits to SMEs in transforming supply chain logistics and warehouse management. We harness customers’ operational data to feed AI intelligence to create a smart warehouse where various technologies can be interconnected, governed, and ultimately enhanced by AI.
Deep Learning is a specific form of AI that is used to analyse ‘big’ datasets and identify previously hidden patterns. For some of our customers, Deep Learning has had an enormous impact and we’ve seen applications that have dramatically improved forecasting, increased delivery vehicle utilisation, and reduced order picking travel-times.
Our ability to provide innovation through design is further strengthened by our understanding of the latest and most appropriate technology available in the marketplace. Using a similar concept to Deep Learning AI, ‘Machine Learning’ combines low-cost sensor technology, robotics and the principles of deep learning, to create machines that can interact with and learn from, the physical world we live.
A good example of this uses fully autonomous, Collaborative Robotic Trollies (CRTs) which are capable of safely following manual pickers around the warehouse before taking the picked orders back to a drop-off point. Just before they leave the operative, they are replaced by another – keeping the picker continuously active. In a recent study carried out by us, CRTs were able to generate a 34% increase in productivity, even in relatively small warehouses, and generally return on investment was less than 18 months.
For a truly integrated approach we provide a full turnkey service for customers looking to source a complete warehouse operations solution including warehouse management, with everything they need from one strategic partner. This includes a complete warehouse design solution using our in-depth data analytics and software simulations as well as the provision and installation of storage equipment such as racking and shelving, mechanical and electrical elements including lighting and fire safety, automation and mechanisation such as shuttle systems, goods lifts and AGVs, warehouse facilities including offices and staff areas, software solutions such as warehouse management systems as well as a huge range of ancillaries covering pedestrian barriers, column guards and rack netting.
We are extremely proud of the incredible supply chain network we have built over the past 20 years and our partners consistently add value by contributing specialist expertise on hundreds of warehouse and commercial interior products.
